The Byron Society is holding a Symposium in London from Monday 10 to Friday 14 September 2012 Ð 'Byron and 1812' Ð to celebrate the bicentenary of Lord Byron taking his seat in the House of Lords and the publication of the first two cantos of 'Childe Harold's Pilgrimage'.

The Academic committee welcomes twenty-minute papers on the theme of "Byron & Latin Culture". This broad theme can accommodate a wide range of approaches, including:
Byron and Cervantes; Byron's experience of Spain and Portugal; Byron's Don Juan and Tirso's; Juan, Boscan and Garcilasso; Hobhouse, the Ladies from Cadiz, and the Master's Mate; El Diablo Mundo and Don Juan; Byron's influence on Spanish and Portuguese literature; Portuguese and Spanish translations of Byron... or similar.

The 35th International Byron Society Conference

The 35th International Byron Conference will be held September 6-12 2009 at Athens University and Messolonghi, with an overnight excursion on Saturday, September 12, to Nafplion with visits to Mycenae and Epidaurus, concluded by a return by bus to Athens and the airport on Sunday afternoon, 13 September 2009.

Adapting Byron

This conference will examine a wide range of adaptations of Byron over the past two centuries, interrogating his changing reception and considering how his poetry has been reconceived by being brought into contact with new, non-literary contexts and media.
