Byron Society of America
October 2007

Dear Byron Society Members,

The time has come once again for renewal of your membership to the Byron Society of America. Members can access the 2007 renewal form on the BSA website or click onto the following link: http://byronsociety.org/bsa/membership.html. Members who renewed for 2006 should have received the 2006.1 and 2006.2 journals. The journal schedule has been changing and members who renewed for 2006 might not have received their 2006 editions in a timely fashion. If you renewed for 2006 and did not receive the journals, please contact member services at the following email address: membership@byronsociety.org. If you renewed for 2006 and have received the 2007.1 Byron Journal, but have not yet renewed for 2007, please do so by check or Paypal through the Society's website.

The Byron Society of America is ushering in a new era of expansion and development for the 2007 calendar year. I hope you continue to support us at this exciting time. In her recent Member News, BSA Chair Marsha Manns announced several major changes that have taken place. These changes include the relaunching of our website, the creation of an annual Byron prize, and my appointment to the Society as Director of Membership and Academic Services. I have a profound respect and admiration for the Byron Society and its diverse group of scholars, collectors, readers, dramatists, and enthusiasts. To me, every Byron Society event has been inspiring and every correspondence with Society members has been a privilege. I am eager to know your comments and suggestions. Kindly email me at the following address: robinhammerman@byronsociety.org. Please take note below of six recent developments in the areas of membership and academic services.

1. Book Discounts: The Byron Society of America continues to offer its members significant discounts on quality titles in Byron and Byron-related books. To view recent additions to this ongoing service, click here: http://byronsociety.org/bsa/discount_offers.html. If you are an author with a forthcoming or recent publication, let us know. The Byron Society will gladly work with your publisher to make your book available to BSA members at a discount.

2. Byron Society Collection Book Sale: The Collection has certain books for sale as an exclusive member service. Truly special gifts are available from this magnificent Collection. Holdings also include back issues of the Byron Journal. Members of the Byron Society of America can consider purchasing items from the Collection here: http://byronsociety.org/bsc/documents/Sale_Catalogues.doc.

3. Gift Membership: Every member of the Byron Society of America can participate in our exciting period of expansion by sponsoring a 2007 gift membership. To read about this ongoing service, click here: http://byronsociety.org/bsa/gift_membership.html. Your gift recipient will receive a warm and collegial orientation to the Society and access to every member service, not to mention the bi-annual Byron Journal. This is a perfect way to celebrate the accomplishments of your graduate students and junior colleagues.

4. Life Cycles Commemoration Gift Card: The Byron Society of America is pleased to announce this exciting new member service to honor your colleagues and loved ones. The gift card option is a wonderful way for Byronists to stay connected. Recipients do not need to be members of the BSA. Your generous contribution of $8.00 for each gift card will benefit the Byron Society of America and maintenance of the Byron Society Collection. 6. Academic Services: The Byron Society of America is glad to address any academic queries by its members about Byron and his circle. If you are working on Byron or Byron-related material culture and you have a burning question, kindly direct it to: robinhammerman@byronsociety.org.

At this exciting time of change for the Byron Society of America, we encourage all members to stay connected. Your membership renewal is one important way to maintain that connection. Thank you for supporting the Byron Society of America. I look forward to continuing our correspondence.
