An agreement with the University of Delaware generously provides
for space and other essential needs of the collection, which
is presently located in Memorial Hall, a landmark Georgian
style building that is home to Delaware’s English Department.
With many excellent programs in nineteenth-century studies,
the University of Delaware was a natural choice for the Byron
Society Collection. The University is already the repository
of a number of special collections, and the English Department
is noted for its strength in the Romantic and Victorian periods.
In addition, the University has well-developed programs in
museum studies and American material culture, a university
press that publishes important Byron-related titles, and a
university gallery that actively collects art objects and
ethnographic artifacts.
