The Collection has already received, through donation and bequest, 5,000 books and material objects. Donors to the Byron Society Collection have given the Collection permission to sell certain duplicates (mainly secondary criticism from the twentieth century) for the purpose of raising funds to support the operating and curatorial needs of the Collection. (Buyers are reminded that the Collection retains one or more copies of the exact edition of any item offered here for sale.) This sale, at the same time, will provide books and materials to the next generation of Byronists. Contained within Catalogue 1A are over 250 items donated to the Collection by Byron collectors with varying interests. A list of donors whose items are represented here may be found below, and the catalogue specifically identifies those items from the collection of Leslie A. Marchand (some of which bear the evidence of Leslie’s notes and, occasionally, a faint hint of Marion’s smoking). We are excited to present this email follow-up to our first printed sale catalogue (it contains new materials since the publication of Catalogue One), and we hope that Byronists will find books and other items of interest for their own collections.
